Japan’s Semiconductor Investment Commitment Reaches Up to US$21 Billion

Reuters reported on 22 October that Japan had agreed to invest up to US$21 billion in two semiconductor factories operated by GlobalFoundries in New York. The commitment forms part of broader Japan–US industrial cooperation and is intended to expand semiconductor manufacturing capacity. Technology suppliers and infrastructure firms can explore opportunities in equipment, project planning and industrial analytics; the US$21 billion is an investment commitment, not an HPC service fee.
