Kenya Signs US$160 Million Conservation Finance Programme

On 21 October, Kenya signed the Thamani Asili conservation programme with international donors, combining US$80 million in donor funding with an equal government contribution to protect 173,000 square kilometres of biodiversity-rich landscapes over ten years. The programme targets regions including Tsavo and the Maasai Mara ecosystem. Conservation organisations and environmental consultancies can explore biodiversity monitoring and sustainability reporting, while HPC can support environmental data systems and climate-risk analytics; the US$160 million represents programme funding, not a single supplier contract.
